Aydin Displays is a wholly owned subsidiary of Video Display Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia (NASDAQ: VIDE).
Prior to the acquisition, Aydin Displays was a division of the Aydin Corporation, which was formed in 1975 as a military electronics systems supplier. The Aydin Corporation manufactured, among other things, both color CRT monitors and computer workstations. In 1996 two parts of Aydin Corporation, Aydin Controls and Aydin Computer Systems Military Display Group, merged to form the Aydin Displays Division of Aydin Corporation. Then, in November 1998, Video Display Corporation of Tucker, GA, purchased the Aydin Displays Division.
Video Display Corporation is headquartered in Tucker, GA with facilities throughout the USA, Great Britian and Mexico. There are approximately 500 employees worldwide; 2004 sales revenues were approximately $80M (Fiscal Year End is February 28th).
With its subsidiaries, Video Display Corporation manufactures and distributes cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and related parts for the replacement market. The acquisitive company makes more than 3,000 types of CRTs - both new and reconditioned - for TVs, computer displays, data display terminals, medical displays, and military displays. Video Display Corporation also produces CRT electron guns and related display hardware. The company is also a wholesale distributor of third-party electronic parts and CRTs. The founder, chairman, and CEO is Ronald Ordway.
